BACKGROUND

First Baptist Church Jacksonville has a 175 year history of reaching its community and the world with the Gospel. It's one of the nation's largest and most influential congregations, and media technology has been an indispensable tool in accomplishing its mission throughout the decades.

CHALLENGE

A new pastor brought a new vision of ministry to the venerable church. Changes to the church campus were necessary to support the new ministry vision. The 1970s-era Lindsay Memorial Auditorium (LMA), which had been used for years a secondary meeting space, was targeted for renovation in preparation for a return to full-time, weekly service as FBC's primary meeting location. The interior of the room was revamped to accommodate its new role, including new furnishings, lighting, and new video systems.

SOLUTION

Strata, having previously completed video upgrades in another part of the church, was asked to design and install a completely new video production system for the LMA.  A new control room and equipment room were designed by Strata in coordination with the church technical staff. The new spaces, with custom-designed production furniture, provide many workflow improvements and a much quieter atmosphere over the previous control / equipment room combination.

New equipment includes a For-A HVS switcher, G&D KVM system, GreenGO digital intercom, and an assortment of Ross and AJA OpenGear infrastructure components. Strata integrated the church's existing Sony cameras and audio for video console into the new space.
